In this familiar scene, capturing the dance between the clouds and the landforms was the challenge. Working quickly on location and completing the painting back at the studio was my strategy. I loved working the cloud colors and adding the last glints of white highlights on the boats below, "capturing the moment", as it were.
Dana Point, with its beautiful vistas, is where I fondly reside and have raised my family. Therefor, this painting has special meaning to me.
