This little jewel won "Collectors Choice" Award at the Mission Viejo Country Club's "Fall/Winter Artisan Gallery" display show on November 2, 2011. Painted "en plein air", this piece was completed in late September in the historical "Cardinal Village", a leftover mining village still occupied by a private family and host to groups and individuals who wish to visit the high Sierras. Nestled in the Aspen forest at 8500 feet, the original buildings date back to the late 1800's when Mr. Wilshire mined for copper and made his fortune.
